For children

The younger they are, the easiest it will be for them to learn French : meeting new friends at school, during activities (sports, musics, etc...) will help them to socialize and speak French very quickly. You will be amazed to see how fast they will learn, while you - parents - are still trying to catch up few words!!!

From age 9 or 10, and if your children are going to a public school, it might be a little bit more difficult for them to learn French, as they will have to deal not with a new language but as well with new school subjects that they aren't familiar with. Most of the public schools in Geneva have a section where French is delivered to foreigner students. After few months of intensive French, the students can return to their initial classroom.
